A program which educates you in Understanding and Managing Depression and dealing with Trauma

Feeling hopeless, feeling down, having no interest or pleasure in daily activities, feeling tired of it all, feeling like ending it all. If you have fantasized or even entertained the idea of how to commit suicide, what are the various ways ? what is the most painless way ? what is the quickest way ?,  you are on dangerous grounds.

It might not be possible to pinpoint a specific cause for depression. It could be various combination of genetic, biological, environmental, and psychosocial factors. Past trauma could be affecting you in a way which you are unaware of.

Symptoms of depression can include:

  • Depressed mood

  • Reduced interest or pleasure in activities previously enjoyed, loss of sexual desire

  • Unintentional weight loss (without dieting) or low appetite

  • Insomnia (difficulty sleeping) or hypersomnia (excessive sleeping)

  • Psychomotor agitation, for example, restlessness, pacing up and down

  • Delayed psychomotor skills, for example, slowed movement and speech

  • Fatigue or loss of energy

  • Feelings of worthlessness or guilt

  • Impaired ability to think, concentrate, or make decisions

  • Recurrent thoughts of death or suicide, or attempt at suicide

Causes of depression could possibly be:

  • Genetics

  • Biological – changes in neurotransmitter levels

  • Environmental

  • Psychological and social (psychosocial)

  • Life events: loss of a loved one, divorce, work issues, relationships with friends and family, financial    problems, medical concerns, or acute stress.

  • Personality: Those with less successful coping strategies for the “bad” episodes in life

  • Genetic factors: Having a first-degree relative with depression

  • Childhood trauma.

  • Prescription drugs: These include corticosteroids, some beta-blockers, interferon, and other prescription drugs.

  • Abuse of recreational drugs: Abuse of alcohol, amphetamines, and other drugs are strongly linked to depression.

  • Past episode of major depression: This increases the risk of a subsequent one.

  • Chronic pain syndromes: A sickness or ailment which puts a person under constant pain

Depression and Trauma are treatable mental conditions. There are components to the understanding and management of depression and trauma, we will go through them in our course.

The fundamental truth is, depression and trauma can be treated. You need to know how. If you or anyone you know is going through depression in one way or another, do something soon, before it’s too late. Your decision to sign up for this course could save someone’s life!
