What is Leadership and how is it defined? A myriad of articles, training programs, seminars, and renowned leaders have addressed the theme of Leadership. Eisenhower explained, “Leadership is the art of getting someone else to do something you want done because he wants to do it.”
If one were to take it at face value, Leadership can be defined as art - meaning it can be subjective. It also entails some level of persuasion and would motivate individuals to act in a desired manner. Leadership encompasses an inspirational aspect or a sharing of one’s vision that compels another individual to act. Leadership contrasts from management in that there is a will on the part of an individual being led to want to follow. Management is more of a process of following pre-established guidelines, and thus it is quite possible to be a good manager, but not a good leader.

Teams are needed because the world we live in requires constant experimentation, a continual response to changing conditions. In our exploration of new conditions and possibilities, we have to rapidly integrate new partners and different work disciplines. The team structure adapts most easily to changing conditions and has the greatest potential for creative solutions and new approaches to work challenges. The challenges of today’s working teams are to ensure Personal & Team Initiative (PTI). It is defined as a behaviour syndrome that results in an individual taking a proactive and self-starting approach to work goals and tasks, and persisting in overcoming barriers and setbacks. Our programmes are also designed to allow staff to improve working relationships and also to strengthen bonding and develop team spirit among participants, so as to allow them to achieve excellent team performance in the organisation.
